Here are the 2023 TSP BRS military contribution maximization tables based on 2023 salary increases and TSP contribution limits up to $22,500.
Nepal Army Salary Range [2079 Updated] From Recruit To Army Chief
To match your 5% military TSP, you must contribute 5% per month to TSP and no later than December of each year. The easiest way to do this is to spread your investment evenly over the 12 months of the year.
Military TSPs matched through the Blended Retirement System (BRS) are a great way for military personnel to build retirement savings.
I cover investing in a Frugal Savings Plan in my Military Money Guide podcast, available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts or embedded below.
BRS allows you to receive a government match of up to 5% of your salary so your military savings plan (TSP) account can grow faster. This is an improvement to the military pension system for more than 80% of servicemen who will not receive a military pension for more than 20 years.

Thanks to BRS matching contributions, I contributed an additional $4,600 to my Traditional TSP from January 1 to December 31, 2021. With 7% compounded over 40 years, the matching contribution is $68,000.
Individual retirement accounts (IRAs, Roth, and traditional) are $6,500 through 2023. $541.66 per month in your Roth or Traditional IRA maximum.
BRS TSP matches can be worth thousands per year if properly optimized. The limiting factor is that you have to contribute 5% every month as the match is paid monthly.
Therefore, you don’t want to make $22,500 (the annual elective deferral limit) in the first 6 months of the year: if you want a full match for the rest of the year, you’ll need to stagger your contributions. .

At the beginning of the year, I loaded the TSP contributions as quickly as possible. According to BRS, this is no longer optimal, so I changed my investment strategy.
Don’t worry about going over the $22,500 annual limit. If you don’t have another employer retirement account (401k, 403b, individual 401K), DFAS computers will limit your final contribution to ensure the account is maxed out without paying a penny. There was a bug that allowed contributions or “TSP leaks” in 2021 and 2022, but that has been fixed.
The table above shows the monthly contribution percentage for all enlisted, command and officer ranks between O-8 and 26 years of service. If you are an O-9 or have more than 28 years of service, ask your assistant to correct the numbers.
If you want to maximize your TSP contribution by 2022 ($22,500) and receive the full 5% TSP match to which you are entitled, you must contribute at least 5% to the TSP each month.

The formula is very simple. Get a $22,500 deferred contribution limit in 2022. Divide by 12 months = $1,875. Now divide $1,875 by your monthly base salary to get the interest on the investment.
For example, if your base salary is $5,000 per month, $1,875/5,000 = 0.375 or 37.5%. Rounding up to 38% because you can only choose investments with whole percentages.
If you contribute 38% of your $5,000 base salary, you’ll be putting $1,900 into a TSP, Roth, or Traditional each month.
The match is always included in the Traditional TSP for tax reasons. However, if you contribute to a Roth TSP, you will receive a match, but the match will roll over to the Traditional TSP. You can’t change that. Side note

So by November 2023, you will have contributed $20,900 to the TSP. Your match will be $5,000 * .05 = $250 per month or $3,000 for the year.
In December 2023, you only have $1,600 left to contribute ($22,500 – $20,900), the TSP or DFAS PCs must contribute $1,600, and the remaining $200 will be returned in December or January. Merry Christmas or end of year bonus!
You have now reached your annual contribution limit and received your full 5% monthly match for the year.
If you contribute at least 5% of your salary to TSP under BRS, you may be wondering how much it will cost each month.

If you receive your full BRS match each month this year, it could be worth thousands of dollars, depending on your salary and length of service. Compounded over years or decades, your TSP match can add up to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on your retirement age.
1% of your base pay is automatically credited to the military account. If you contribute at least 5% of your salary to a Roth or traditional TSP, the military will add another 5% to your traditional TSP. This can cost $1,000 a year.
Oh yes! Roth comes with TSP. But the match is credited to your traditional TSP account. When you open a TSP, you have 2 accounts within the TSP: a traditional account and a Roth account. You can contribute to both and get 5% from your employer every month. However, if you contribute Trad or Roth, the match will ALWAYS be Traditional.
You must invest at least 5% in TSP. If you are enlisted or below the rank of O-4 (commander in chief, lieutenant commander), you must contribute 5% to Roth TSP. As your income grows, you should make sure to match 5% each year and contribute up to $20,500 a year to your military TSP account.

You can do this if your tax forms or software asks you to. However, you have already paid that money before it gets into your Rot. Therefore, it does not reduce the taxable income in that year.
To maximize your TSP military match, you must contribute at least 5% of your salary each month from January through December. Therefore, you don’t want to limit your contributions at the beginning of the year. I have a chart on my site that shows you how to invest in interest.
No, the standard TSP limit does not include a match. You can contribute the full $22,500 in 2023 and receive an “annual addition limit” match of up to $66,000 on top of that. The standard TSP limit is called the “additional delay limit”.
If you want to increase your TSP contribution each pay period, you’ll need to do a little math. Take the total annual contribution limit of $22,500 and divide it by the number of repayment periods (12). That’s $1,875 a month. Divide it by your base salary to get your minimum monthly contribution by December 31st. The Biden administration’s FY 2023 budget and the National Defense Authorization Act (which forms the basis of the defense budget) of the Democratic-controlled Congress both proposed it. In 2023, the salary of military personnel increased by 4.6% (2.7% in 2022).
How Big Will The 2024 Military Pay Raise Be?
Now confirmed after the passage of the 2023 omnibus bill. The updated pay scales (see below) and changes to the 11% housing allowance are set out below.
While the 4.6% increase in base pay is the largest increase in nearly 20 years, it is well below the current rate of inflation and the 2023 COLA. In 2023, the salaries of civil servants on GS salary will be increased in the same way.
Below are the salary tables for 2023 based on 4.6% growth. This pay scale covers active duty members (officers and enlisted men) of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard.
Current and past base salary tables are shown in this article and are presented by salary (O, W and E) and years of service (over and under 20).
Nepal Army New Salary Scale From 2079 Shrawan 1
Military compensation, including base pay and bonuses, is reviewed annually and the President’s recommendations are taken into account in the final decision, taking into account inflation as required by an act of Congress (through the National Defense Authorization Act).
The base salary tables do not include benefits such as Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) and Basic Allowance for Living (BAS), both of which will increase by 11% in 2023. This record increase was set to offset rising food prices. and renting accommodation.
Once the latest pay scales are issued by the Defense Financial and Accounting Services, I will update the pay scales as necessary.
The higher salary level will be reflected in the salaries of members of the armed forces from January 1, 2023 (January 13 pay).
