Education For Real Estate Agent – – This is a frequently asked question. Alberta Starting your career as a real estate professional in Alberta is very difficult these days to get a clear picture of how your real estate journey begins.
Now, let’s take a closer look at each step in the process one can follow to become a real estate agent and get a real estate license in Alberta.
Education For Real Estate Agent
The first step to becoming a Realtor® is to meet the minimum requirements. Before enrolling in real estate courses, you must be approved by RECA. They will check your eligibility to see if you are eligible to enroll in the course. person –

Education requirements are again different for Canadian-educated students and international-educated students – we’ve discussed this in our previous articles. Check out the links if you haven’t already.
After that comes the English proficiency test. There are different steps to demonstrate the English language and Canadian education and international education, which can be found on the additional link.
If you meet the minimum requirements including education and English proficiency set by RECA, the next step is to complete a professional course with RECA.
The next step you need to take is to complete the real estate information in RECA. This is a 10 minute video that gives you an overview of the career options available in the real estate industry in Alberta. It will help you choose the right option for your housing permit.

You must also create an account with myRECA. myRECA is RECA’s educational website that helps you register for real estate exams in Alberta. The account is free, it only takes a few minutes to open. Then, you would set up an account there and that’s where you would start your requests.
The option you choose there is called Qualified Education. They have a lot of options for someone who has moved here from another state, and has a license there, not for someone who has just started a new license.
Note: If you have moved from another state, you are transferring your license, which is a different process and therefore not shown on this blog. This applies to anyone who is new to real estate, and does not have a real estate license elsewhere and wants to start this business in Alberta.
Go to myRECA.ca and start the application process. It will cost you $100. This is a non-refundable fee. Once payment is made, RECA will begin the application process.

The next step is to finish primary school. After submitting all the documents, you will get a RECA certificate. Only then can you enroll in pre-licensing training to obtain your Realtor® license. You must apply for at least 2 courses with RECA to apply for undergraduate studies.
This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to develop real estate in Alberta. The cost of this course is $1250. It is an online course and you can register for this course online through the RECA website.
Course fees include access to course materials online, and they also have help if you have problems accessing courses. You can also get the e-book online or you can buy the textbook from RECA. There are 2 (large) manuals for the course. You can check out the detailed information on the summary prepared in this Alberta Real Estate School course to get a good start in preparing for the exam.
There are 10 chapters in this course. You must complete the online activities and questions for each section before taking the final exam. After completing the sections, you can take the practice test and write the final exam.

Tests can be taken at an accredited testing center, not at RECA. You can check the list of authorized RECA agencies for details. Currently, due to COVID-19, RECA offers the option of taking the test online. You can deposit through your myRECA account at myRECA.ca.
The second course you can do is in one of the specialist areas where you can choose the area you want to specialize in.
You must take one of these courses to obtain a Realtor® license in Alberta. You can always take more than one course, but first you must start with one of the courses from the list above.
Most people start out in real estate, and then when they have a license and want to expand their practice, they go back and take more courses if necessary, so if you want to do property management or commercial real estate, you can always come back and do that later.
How To Continue Your Education As A Real Estate Agent
Between the 2 courses you will be given 12 months to complete the training requirements. Within 1 year from the date of enrollment in the first course, you must complete both courses.
In short, a total of 2 courses and 2 exams will complete your education before getting a real estate license in Alberta.
Once you have completed your pre-licensing course, the next step is to obtain a Certified Criminal License Certificate (CCRC).
There are many different types of criminal record checks, the one you are looking for is the one with fingerprints. It takes a while, they have to send everything to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Ottawa and you get the results.

Then it takes two to three weeks for RECA to receive your results, and you can send the results to RECA. So you don’t get immediate results, but you get RECA, which is a faster process.
And if you already have a valid criminal background check that is within six months, you can submit your application using the same CCRC account, without having to do it again. Just remember, the criminal record check must be no more than 6 months old.
In order to get a license, you have to use a brokerage, otherwise you can’t just apply for a license.
I recommend that you talk to two or three different brokers, find the brokerage that best suits your needs and go sign up with them. When you go to a brokerage, they will fill out your application, and it will be sent to RECA and you can get your license.
