International Conference On Artificial Intelligence And Statistics – LatinX in AI (LXAI) will host a social event on April 25 at 6pm CEST to connect LatinX-identified AI researchers and professionals following the 26th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Statistics (AISTATS) on April 25-27, 2023.
This LatinX in AI (LXAI) fellowship is aimed at LatinX individuals who work in or are interested in AI with the goal of enlightening scholars of LatinX history. Those already working in AI will have the opportunity to connect with LatinX colleagues and familiarize themselves with the field, while those who are new to the field will benefit from the exchange of experiences, research, guidance and advice from scholars with the same background. Attendees will be able to participate in discussions about AI (formal and informal) and share their ideas about how to include LatinX in AI.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Digital Systems Engineering and Robotics from Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2020. Previously he worked with automobiles, gaining experience in driving, robotics and automation. He joined Microsoft Research Redmond in 2021 as a Research Software Engineer in Intellectual Property Protection (PAI), working in areas such as expert onboarding, education engagement, and best practices.
He has a degree in Computer Engineering and a master’s degree in artificial intelligence. He is passionate about using AI, machine learning and robotics to achieve great results and sharing his knowledge with others. He is currently a professor and director of the Research Program at Universidad Argentina de la Empresa, where he helps students learn about the rapidly changing world of research work.
He is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. He holds an M.Sc. degree in engineering and management from Delft University of Technology and in applied mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018. His research focuses on distributed learning and optimization, control systems, systems analysis pattern, and best-of-breed transport computing. category. I attended AISTATS 2023 not only to see the papers published at the conference, but also to present myself, which was selected as the keynote lecture: History of Resistance Enjoy with Elvis Dohmatob and Chuan Guo.
My main interest is, as can be deduced from the title of the article, Adversarial Robustness. On this topic, I have the pleasure of exploring a number of interesting works, among which I particularly liked Nash Equilibria and Pitfalls of Adversarial Training in Adversarial Robustness Games, by Balcan et al. The article studies the best practice strategy called competitive strategy through the lens of game theory and shows its limitations, which is contrary to the Nash equilibrium, as it does not converge even in simple scenarios. I also liked other articles on this topic, such as Developing Relationships between Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Research by Baharlouei et al., Discussions Adversarial Robustness for (Good) Random Neural Networks by Zhang et al., or Adversarial Robustness of VAEs Local Geometry Lenses, by Khan and Storkey.
