What Is A Certified Medical Assistant (cma)?

CMAA test results are weighted. Your raw score (the number of questions you answered correctly) is converted to a scale score. Adjusted scores range from 200 to 500 with a minimum passing score of 390.

If you are taking the test at your facility, a preliminary report will be provided after the test is completed. If you take the test live or at a PSI test center, your preliminary report will be available within 48 hours of completion. If you took the pencil and paper test, your initial report will be available ten days after the test. Your official score report is posted to your NHA account and an email notification is sent when your score is available.

Your official score report shows your performance in each area. Performance indicators include “above passing standard”, “nearly passing standard” or “below passing standard”. Indicators are designed to give you the feedback you need to improve.

If you fail the exam, you can try to take the CMAA exam three more times with a 30-day waiting period between attempts. You register and pay for each test on the NHA website. If you fail the test on your third attempt, you will have to wait a year before trying again.

How Long Does It Take To Become A Medical Assistant?

Your success on CMAA exam day depends not only on how many hours you spend preparing, but also on how well you prepare. Along the way, it’s worth checking whether your research is worthwhile. One of the most effective ways to do this is to take CMAA practice tests to measure your progress. Practice tests are useful because they show you exactly where you need to improve. Each time you take a free CMAA practice test, pay special attention to these three sets of questions:

This will show you exactly what your weak points are and where you need to spend more time studying. Ask yourself why these questions are problematic. Is it because you don’t understand the material? Is it because you don’t remember the vocabulary? Need to repeat these types of questions more to build speed and confidence? Review these questions and think about how you can strengthen your weaknesses when you come back to review the lesson.

Additionally, many CMAA practice tests have a section that explains the answer choices. It may be tempting to read the explanation and think you now have a good grasp of the concept. However, the explanation covers only part of the broader context of the question. Even if the explanation makes sense, go back and explore each concept related to the question until you’re sure you have a solid understanding.

As you go, remember that the CMAA practice test is just that: practice. Memorizing these questions and answers won’t be very helpful for the actual exam because it won’t have the same exact questions. If you only know the correct answers to typical questions, you won’t be ready for the real thing. Study the concepts until you understand them completely and then
